Hi,
this is a city block which I've modelled for one my recent animation projects. Since I was the only guy working on this, the main challenge was to make fully 3D city fly-around for almost 4 or 5 days. The deadlines were pretty tight so I started to think of the easiest and the most painless possible way of achiving acceptable result for such a short amount of time. But after all of those second thughts I decided to model and texture everything from the scratch by myself though it didin't sound like a good idea since I didn't have to mimic the real setting very close and the client was aware of this. So I risked losing a couple of days taking photos of surrounding buildings and editing them in Photoshop for later use as textures on extremely low-poly geometry. Low polycount was crucial since there had to be an extremely high-detailed architectural building in the very center provided by the client (I removed it on this pic for legal purposes) The final render took about 3 days. When the crazy fuss with the client was over I decided to make a nice composition of this city and fine-tuned it a little further. Hope you like it
